July 2014 – Boozy brunches may be here to stay, but 2014 heralds the return of the liquid lunch – celebrated family-style, with free-flowing Bloody Marys, Bellinis or Mimosas to make afternoons as amazing as evenings. Championing its reincarnation in suitably swish style is Mews of Mayfair, the British brasserie, bar and cocktail lounge in Lancashire Court. After all, not everybody wants a hangover by 11am!
Now available until 27th April, the ‘Roast & Toast’ menu is the perfect excuse to gather fabulous friends and family together. Whether raising a glass with one of the best Bloodies in town or toasting to taste with a fabulous flute of fizz, groups of up to eight can clink as they dine for a mere £15 supplement in the beautiful upstairs brasserie. Free-flowing for two hours from arrival, it’s an ideal way to while away a Sunday!
Perfectly priced at £20 for two courses or £25 for three courses, dishes on the ‘Roast & Toast’ menu represent the best of seasonal, modern British cuisine. Starters include eggs benedict, Dorset crab on toast and wild mushroom on brioche with duck egg, whilst mains range from Valley Smokehouse salmon macaroni cheese and ocean-fresh beer-battered haddock & chips. But the star of the show is undoubtedly the roast: pick from the roast Cotswold white chicken or roast sirloin of South Devon dry-aged beef, both served with all the trimmings – including the restaurant’s legendary duck-fat roasted potatoes. Desserts, meanwhile, are no less dreamy: sweet teeth can get stuck into pancakes with fresh berries, a classic Eton mess or a modern spin on profiteroles, amongst others. A signature of newly-appointed executive chef Michael Lecouteur, no less.
So forget the hangover from the night before and book the Roast & Toast at Mews of Mayfair: the only way to spend a Sunday.
Notes to editors: Menu only available in the brasserie for a maximum of 8 people; beverages only available whilst you dine for a maximum of two hours from arrival; available Sundays only until 27th April (excluding Mothering Sunday on 30th March); to reserve quote ‘Roast & Toast’; a discretionary 12.5% service charge will be added to the final bill.
